MiLB club focuses on using data to better understand, build strong connections with fans

Wichita, KS – StellarAlgo and the Wichita Wind Surge, Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, are proud to announce a new partnership. The Wind Surge have already begun using StellarAlgo’s Customer Data Platform (CDP) to help them better understand their growing fanbase and better personalize how they engage with fans.

“After working with StellarAlgo for several years at my previous organization, I was thrilled to hear the Wind Surge were taking a proactive approach to investing in their fan engagement strategy by adopting StellarAlgo’s CDP,” said Jason Gavigan, director of ticket operations at the Wichita Wind Surge. “Our focus this season is on bringing fans back to the ballpark and creating a deeper connection to with our community. We have an exciting lineup of themes and promotions, including some fun new alternate identities we will be rolling out. We will be using the data-driven insights provided by our CDP to ensure we’re connecting with the right fans for these events and opportunities.”

The Wind Surge joined the MiLB just prior to the cancelled 2020 season, which meant the new club had to quickly refocus on engaging with fans while games were paused and build excitement for when live sports would return. After a successful inaugural season in 2021, the Wind Surge are looking to better understand what their fan data is telling them, including how to best engage with various segments, how to connect fans to the games and events that would be of most interest to them, and how to keep bringing fans back to the ballpark as they grow the Wind Surge brand.

Implementing StellarAlgo’s CDP ahead of the 2022 season, and with the support of StellarAlgo’s Customer Success team, the Wind Surge are already using the insights gleaned from their dataset to identify trends and execute on initiatives that will see more fans coming back to the ballpark this season.

“The team in Wichita is eager and curious about how to better connect with and engage their fans, which is the first step to being data-driven. They also have the benefit of experience in Jason, who knows firsthand how using fan data effectively can generate immense opportunity,” said Megan Kurcwal, SVP of sales and emerging leagues business operations at StellarAlgo. “We’re excited for the Wind Surge and look forward to helping them achieve the ambitious goals they’ve set for themselves this season.”

StellarAlgo’s Customer Data Platform is the easiest way to build and monetize the world’s most passionate audiences. Backed by machine-learning technology, the platform’s predictive capabilities enable live audience organizations to gain valuable insights and a thorough understanding of their fan universe, and to discern customer propensities for products and events while also unlocking the ‘Why’ behind conversion.
